On 18.04.2023, a day-long workshop on the topic of inner city development in Hanover took place for the students of the Bachelor’s program in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning. The starting point of the charrette was the challenges faced by city centers, such as the closure of retail stores, which has been further exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic. The task for the students was to investigate the developments of the city center of Hanover, which is considered a cultural and infrastructural hub, using methods such as mapping and photo safaris. The students could choose between different analytical focuses: These included, for example, literature research on the topics “Historical development of Hanover’s inner city” as well as mapping on “Retail” or “Housing”. The results were compiled and presented in posters.
